University of St Andrews Energy Efficiency Projects

The University of St Andrews set out to reduce its CO2 emissions to comply with the National Allocation Plan (NAP) for the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). GEP Environmental was appointed to provide Energy Auditing and Energy Efficiency Implementation services to assist them in achieving this goal.

GEP Environmental has subsequently assisted St Andrews University in the implementation of an impressive range of energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures.

  • Combined Heat and Power (CHP) district heating system
  • Renewable energy feasibility study and detailed design and specification for Biomass
  • Installation of Biomass (CHP) district heating system
  • Provision of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
  • Low carbon building design
  • Energy efficiency implementation advice on existing buildings
  • Design of Metering, Monitoring and Targeting System (MM&T)
  • Design and specification of heat recovery ventilation system
  • Carbon Standard Certification

Overall the project resulted in significantly reduced energy bills and carbon footprint, increased energy efficiency and reduced reliance on fossil fuels.
