Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme

Through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme Phase 3b, GEP Environmental is delighted to have supported public sector organisations achieve more than £2 million in funding for decarbonisation projects.

​What is the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme?

The PSDS has been launched by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and offers £1 billion of grant funding to public sector bodies for capital energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects. The purpose of this is to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and install low carbon heating measures in line with the Government’s target of reaching Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050.

The types of projects that can be grant funded include:

• Technologies that directly contribute to the heat decarbonisation of a building by installing low carbon hearting technology (such as Heat Pumps)
• Technologies not directly contributing to heat decarbonisation but reduce overall energy demand, therefore supporting future heat decarbonisation
• Technologies that do not reduce carbon emissions but enable future heat decarbonisation projects to be implemented
• Technologies that are permitted only if they are used to replace coal or oil fueled heating systems AND it is not feasible to install a low carbon heating system to replace the existing coal or oil system

We are then able to support with the full application process to attain the PSDS grant.
